Founded in 2002 and operating from our facility near Colchester, Essex, JDR prepares, builds and runs cars across a carefully selected range of series and events, from club racing and endurance competition to invitation and demonstration events at some of the world’s most celebrated motorsport venues.
The team has built a reputation for meticulous preparation, precise engineering and a level of trackside support that gives drivers and car owners complete confidence on race day.
New to Racing?
The path into motorsport can feel complex. JDR makes it straightforward. The team will help you identify the right car and series for your ambitions and budget, as well as guide you through every step of the process from initial preparation through to full trackside support on race day.
Already Racing?
If you already have a race car and are looking for someone to prepare and run it for you, JDR offers everything from full season campaign management to single event support, as well as full rebuild and engineering services. Each year we work with a select number of customers to ensure that every car receives the time, attention and expertise it deserves.
Own a Historic or Competition Car?
John Danby Racing regularly attends invitation and demonstration events including the Goodwood Members’ Meeting and the Goodwood Revival. If you own a historic or competition car and would like to see it at events like these, the team has the experience, technical expertise and logistical capability to make it happen.
Full Season
Campaign Management
For those looking for a complete, end-to-end racing experience, JDR can take care of every aspect of your campaign. Pre-season preparation and testing, logistics, trackside engineering and post-event work are all handled by the team, leaving you free to focus entirely on your driving.
Full season support includes:

Event Support
Not every customer requires a full season package. JDR also works with customers who have their own preparation facilities but want professional trackside support at specific events, or those looking for one-off preparation and race day backup at a particular venue or series.
